OSN Time Out
Josh Callaway November 25, 2020
The high school football playoffs are raging on as we move into the third week of the postseason.
In 6A, they will have their semifinals take place this week while others will be in the quarterfinals or even final 16 in some of the smaller classes that feature a high number of schools.
Things are starting to get really interesting the further we move throughout the postseason, as the matchups just get better and better.
As we have done the last few weeks, here is a preview of all the games you can watch for FREE on the Oklahoma Sports Network this week.
BISHOP KELLY @ CARL ALBERT (5A QUARTERFINAL)
5A has reached the quarterfinals and features a fantastic game here with Bishop Kelly traveling to face Carl Albert.
Carl Albert is of course chasing their fifth consecutive state title, and are the favorites to do so. But, Bishop Kelly is going to have something to say about it.
The Comets are 9-1 on the season with their only loss coming to a really good Coweta team. They have been having a very impressive season all year long and will be game to give the Titans a good fight on Friday night.
Of course, Carl Albert is beyond a handful. They simply have not been tested by a 5A opponent all year long, could Bishop Kelly be the ones to give them a run for their money?
You can find out and watch this game for free Friday night on OSN.
BRISTOW @ BLANCHARD (4A QUARTERFINAL)
4A has also hit the quarterfinals and it is going to be fantastic to see it play out.
This class has been certainly one of the deepest all year long and we saw it last week with some upsets taking place in the second round.
These two teams are really good, with Bristow beating a very solid Broken Bow team last week.
The Pirates have won six straight games since losing to Wagoner back on Oct. 2nd, and are playing very good football right now.
Blanchard, meanwhile, is a legit title contender and is also playing well at the right time. The Lions are 9-2 and haven’t lost a game since Sep. 18th.
They knocked off previously undefeated Tuttle in the regular season finale and have cruised through the first two rounds of the playoffs.
This one is going to be very interesting to see play out on OSN Friday night.
CHANDLER @ MARLOW (2A 3RD ROUND – FINAL 16)
The 2A postseason bracket is an absolute behemoth to navigate this season with the expanded playoffs.
The state champion will have had to find their way through SIX weeks of playoff football – meaning if you win this thing you will have earned it big time.
Chandler-Marlow is a game that certainly has intrigue, but Marlow looks to be a legit title contender this season. I even picked them to take home the gold ball myself (you can see my picks below).
They are undefeated on the season and have even gone above their class and picked up some solid wins along the way.
Chandler is no slouch though, at 9-3 they have rolled through the last few weeks and are playing well right now.
Can they pull the upset here? OSN Friday night is where you can find out.
FREDERICK @ MILLWOOD (2A 3RD ROUND – FINAL 16)
Sticking in 2A, Frederick-Millwood has the makings of a really entertaining game Friday night.
Millwood is unbeaten on the season, but it is only in six games as they have had a rough go of game cancellations this year. But they are certainly a very good team with the chance to go deep into this postseason.
Frederick is a team to watch, for despite their low seeding (just a No. 4 out of District 4) they are playing well and handed it to a solid Christian Heritage team last week.
This game is fun because it is honestly hard to know what to expect here. This really feels like it could go either way and will be a great matchup in Oklahoma City Friday night.
Buckle up for this one and enjoy the ride. Yours truly will be on the call.
MIDWEST CITY VS BIXBY (6A-II SEMIFINAL)
Taking place on Saturday night in Jenks, Midwest City-Bixby is a classic semifinal matchup that has obvious interest that doesn’t need to be explained to you.
Bixby is maybe the single best team in Oklahoma regardless of class, they are certainly no lower than second between them and Owasso.
Midwest City has been a team I have really liked all year long, and they have had a fantastic run to get to this point. But oh boy do they have their hands full here.
It’s the 8-2 Bombers and the 9-0 Spartans with a spot in the state title game on the line. Need I say more?
Unfortunately, per OSSAA rules this will have to be an audio-only broadcast of the game. But, you can still listen for free on the Oklahoma Sports Network Saturday night along with all of our graphics and other visual aids throughout the evening.
CHAMPIONSHIP PICKS UPDATE
