OSN Time Out Power Rankings
Josh Callaway December 17th, 2020
Oklahoma high school basketball is hurtling through the third week of the season and there has
been some action across the state.
As the teams finish up their final contests before the holiday break in the schedule, here is our
brand new power rankings for the teams across the state. As always, classes 3A-6A are kept
together and Class B-2A are kept together.
BIG SCHOOLS (BOYS)
#1 Edmond Memorial – Last Week: #4
The Bulldogs jumped up from #4 to #1 in the rankings this week due to them simply having the
most impressive resume to this point. They are 4-0 on the young season and just knocked off a
team that was being heavily considered for the top spot in Kingfisher. Edmond Memorial is
deserving of the pole position right now.
#2 Heritage Hall – Last Week: #2
The Chargers very nearly moved up to #1 after they have continued to rack up impressive wins.
They are 5-0 with nothing but impressive wins over Ardmore, Del City, Carl Albert, Community
Christian and Lawton MacArthur. They are right on Edmond Memorial’s heels for the top
ranking.
#3 Crossings Christian – Last Week: #3
Despite a disappointing loss last Saturday to Christian Heritage, Crossings Christian stays put at
#3. They have just that one loss and already knocked off another great opponent in 3A in
Millwood. The Knights stay in the top-3 for now, but they are just hanging on by a thread.
#4 Lawton MacArthur – Last Week: NR
#5 Memorial – Last Week: #1
#6 Kingfisher – Last Week: #5
#7 Putnam City North – Last Week: #6
#8 Millwood – Last Week: #7
#9 Daniel Webster – Last Week: #10
#10 Carl Albert – Last Week: #8
BIG SCHOOLS (GIRLS)
#1 Edmond North – Last Week: #5
Edmond North has the resume in the state to this point and it doesn’t look even all that close.
They have beaten several good teams by large margins and got a win over one of the very best
teams in 5A in Sapulpa. They get the slight edge over Norman due to beating common
opponents by significantly greater margins.
# 2 Norman – Last Week: #1
Norman dips slightly down really by no fault of their own, they are an extremely good basketball
team. But what Edmond North did to Edmond Memorial (a 26-point thrashing) was eye-opening.
The Norman-Edmond North matchup on January 19th will be absolutely fantastic.
#3 Fort Gibson – Last Week: #2
Similar to Norman, Ft. Gibson slides down a spot more because of what Edmond North did as
opposed to what they didn’t. Although, the loss to Union does create a little separation between
them and Norman as it stands right now.
#4 Sapulpa – Last Week: #7
#5 Roland – Last Week: NR
#6 Anadarko – Last Week: #4
#7 Union – Last Week: #10
#8 Ardmore – Last Week: #6
#9 Carl Albert – Last Week: #9
#10 Jones – Last Week: #8
SMALL SCHOOLS (BOYS)
#1 Roff – Last Week: #3
Roff jumps from #3 to #1 because they just won’t stop winning basketball games. They are a
ridiculous 9-0 (!) on the season. Nobody else can tout that many wins this early in the year. Their
most recent win was a nice one over Vanoss from Class as well. Simply put, they’ve earned this
ranking.
#2 Hydro-Eakly – Last Week: #1
The Bobcats slide down one spot more than anything because they haven’t played since the last
rankings and Roff went out and got more wins. Not really their fault, but it is the way it has to be
at this point. They are still a really good team and have a great chance to get that top spot back
with more good performances in the coming games.
#3 Dale – Last Week: #5
The Pirates are an impressive group. The win over 3A Kingston last week was very impressive
and right now, it is hard to argue against Dale being the best team in 2A to this point. It will be
extremely interesting to see them navigate their difficult schedule in late January and February.
#4 Varnum – Last Week: #4
#5 Hooker – Last Week: NR
#6 Fort Cobb-Broxton – Last Week: #9
#7 Arapaho-Butler – Last Week: #6
#8 Oklahoma Union – Last Week: #8
#9 Duke – Last Week: #7
#10 Calumet – Last Week: #10
SMALL SCHOOLS (GIRLS)
#1 Vanoss – Last Week: #1
The Wolves are 9-0 this season and simply have provided zero reason to move them off of the
top rankings. In fact, they improved their resume even more with a big time overtime win over
Latta last week. They have a firm grasp on #1 as it stands right now.
#2 Silo – Last Week: #2
Just like Vanoss, Silo has provided nothing to think they should be moved down. Their win over
Dale last week is as good of a win as any team has in these rankings to this point and they sit 7-0
on the season. They are going to be fixture in these rankings all year long.
#3 Lomega – Last Week: #8
Lomega makes a big jump this week due to the wins they picked up last week and the fashion in
which they got them. They eviscerated Calumet and Arnett, both quality teams, in games that
weren’t even kind of close. Lomega looks to be among the very elite in Class B.
#4 Leedey – Last Week: #3
#5 Hydro-Eakly – Last Week: #4
#6 Crowder – Last Week: #7
#7 Varnum – Last Week: #5
#8 Dale – Last Week: #6
#9 Amber-Pocasset – Last Week: NR
#10 Howe – Last Week:
