OSN Power Rankings
Josh Callaway December 23rd, 2020
We’ve now entered the winter break portion of the high school basketball season, with many
teams having the next couple of weeks off before diving into the very busy January and February
schedule in the run up to the playoffs.
After three weeks of action, there has been a lot of fun games across the state and some solid
movement in our rankings. However, many teams did not play last week so the movement isn’t
quite as high this week as others, but there was still some shifting.
Here are the final OSN Power Rankings of 2020:
LARGE SCHOOLS (BOYS)
#1 Edmond Memorial – Last Week: #1
While Edmond Memorial did not play last week, I have a really hard time moving them off of
the top spot. They are a seriously talented group and that win over Kingfisher is going to look
better and better as the year goes on. The top spot still belongs to them for now.
#2 Heritage Hall – Last Week: #2
It is pretty much impossible to move the Chargers off of the #2 spot given who they have beaten
already in this young season. They have knocked off Del City, Carl Albert and Lawton
MacArthur among others – creating as strong of a resume as anybody. They are nipping at
Edmond Memorial’s heels for the top ranking.
#3 Memorial – Last Week: #5
Memorial climbs back into the top three because they were a team that managed to get two
games played last week and got two really solid wins over Victory Christian and Hilldale. Our
original top-ranked team, they took a couple of tough losses in the Norman Invitational that slid
them down. It was very impressive the way they bounced back last week.
#4 Lawton MacArthur – Last Week: #4
#5 Crossings Christian – Last Week: #3
#6 Kingfisher – Last Week: #6
#7 Putnam City North – Last Week: #7
#8 Millwood – Last Week: #8
#9 Carl Albert – Last Week: #10
#10 Community Christian – Last Week: NR
LARGE SCHOOLS (GIRLS)
#1 Edmond North – Last Week: #1
Edmond North didn’t play last week, but I still have a hard time moving them off the top spot.
Their resume is so good to this point and that win over Sapulpa is helping keep them here. The
battle between them and Norman for the top ranking is a coin flip right now.
#2 Norman – Last Week: #2
Same situation with Norman as Edmond North, they didn’t play last week but I am not going to
move them down just because of that. They could easily be put #1 and I wouldn’t argue with that
either. I can’t wait for these two top teams and to go at it on January 19th.
#3 Anadarko – Last Week: #6
We all knew the Lady Warriors were good, but they had a hard time rising in the rankings given
that they still had not played a game until last week. After shaking the rust off against Chickasha,
they went on the road and got an impressive win over Tuttle to move to 2-0. This team is really
good and could beat anyone in the state.
#4 Sapulpa – Last Week: #4
#5 Ft. Gibson – Last Week: #3
#6 Carl Albert – Last Week: #9
#7 Roland – Last Week: #5
#8 Union – Last Week: #7
#9 Classen SAS – Last Week: NR
#10 Jones – Last Week: #10
SMALL SCHOOLS (BOYS)
#1 Roff – Last Week: #1
Roff keeps at the #1 spot despite not playing last week because even with being idle all week
they have played, and won, more games than anyone else. 9-0 is 9-0 and they have earned being
the top team going into the winter break.
#2 Hydro-Eakly – Last Week: #2
Hydro-Eakly stays at #2 after getting to take the court again last week and picking up a win over
Sentinel to go to 7-0. This team was #1 in the original rankings and has a great chance to get
back there after the new year. They have some very interesting games coming up toward the end
of January that I am looking forward to.
#3 Hooker – Last Week: #5
Hooker moves into the top three over Dale due to the fact that they have the single best win
between the two, beating Cashion, and they were able to add onto that resume last week with
another win over a squad from Texas. They’ve just shown a little more to this point, they get that
#3 spot.
#4 Dale – Last Week: #3
#5 Varnum – Last Week: #4
#6 Arapaho-Butler – Last Week: #7
#7 Oklahoma Union – Last Week: #8
#8 Ft. Cobb-Broxton – Last Week: #6
#9 Calumet – Last Week: #10
#10 Battiest – Last Week: NR
SMALL SCHOOLS (GIRLS)
#1 Vanoss – Last Week: #1
The Wolves were inactive last week, but at 9-0 that isn’t going to be enough to move them off of
the #1 ranking. It is really hard to differentiate between Vanoss and Silo for the #1 ranking right
now, but some common opponents after the break may provide some more clarity.
#2 Silo – Last Week: #2
Vanoss and Silo are extremely similar to Edmond North and Norman for the big school girls
rankings – you can flip a coin on who deserves to be #1 right now. Unfortunately they aren’t
scheduled to play in the regular season, but that very well could change come playoff time.
These teams are easily among the elite of the small schools.
#3 Hydro-Eakly – Last Week: #5
Hydro-Eakly jumps up into the top three due to a big win over 2A Merritt that improved them to
7-0 on the season. In a week where many other top teams didn’t have games, they went out and
beat a good team in the class above them. That is hard to ignore.
