OSN Time Out
Josh Callaway November 5th, 2020
Amazingly, we are at Week 10 of the Oklahoma high school football season.
It has been an incredible year for a lot of reasons, and whatever schools manage to take home the
gold balls this season will have worked harder and earned their title more than ever before.
As we enter the final games of the regular season, today we want to highlight some of the biggest
games of the week that you can watch for FREE right here on the Oklahoma Sports Network.
LAWTON HIGH at DEL CITY
While this game doesn’t have the heat on it that it would in a normal season, this matchup of
teams that are currently No. 5 (Lawton) and No. 4 (Del City) in District 1 in 6A-II is wildly
Del City has had a crazy season, as they sat 0-5 on the year just two weeks ago. But, back to
back wins over Deer Creek and U.S. Grant has earned them the No. 4 spot in both the district
standings and, more importantly, the district RANKINGS in District 1.
Now, as crazy it sounds, the Eagles are a win away from giving themselves a home playoff game
As for Lawton, they currently sit at 4-3 after they lost to Deer Creek on the road last week. This
might make or break their postseason chances, as a road win over Del City almost definitely gets
them a home playoff game next week.
This game is really important to the 6A-II playoff bracket, and you can watch it right here Friday
night on the Oklahoma Sports Network.
LAWTON MACARTHUR at ARDMORE
Sticking with the Lawton schools, another very important game for playoff seeding in 5A is
Lawton MacArthur vs Ardmore.
As it stands now, Lawton Mac is No. 2 in District 1 with Ardmore sitting at No. 4. This is a big
chance for both teams to possibly move up, or at the very least lock in where they are, but it may
be even more vital for these teams to avoid moving down.
Obviously, Ardmore needs a win here to lock up a first round home game next week. A loss
doesn’t guarantee Noble catches them for fourth place, but it gets dicey.
Lawton Mac, meanwhile, is on a hot streak looking for the fourth straight win. A win here locks
them up home games in the first two rounds of the postseason – which is clearly a big deal.
Two legit teams playing for important playoff seeding? Sign me up for this one all day. You can
do the same on the Oklahoma Sports Network Friday night.
CACHE at WEATHERFORD
District 1 in 4A has been a wildly fun district to watch play out this season, and we have another
dandy here in Week 10.
For the Eagles, they are obviously in great shape to finish first in the district as they sit
undefeated on the season at 7-0. They’ll just be looking to keep things rolling heading into the
postseason and assuring there won’t be any funny business in the final rankings of the season.
For the Bulldogs, however, this game is mightily important. It has been a tough year for Cache in
that they have had multiple really close losses to good teams.
They lost to 5A El Reno in overtime, blew a 20-point lead to lose to Newcastle, lost a close game
to a very good Clinton team, and let one slip away against Bristow last week losing by seven
They have lost four games this year by a TOTAL of 22 points. That’s an average of just over five
points per game. In other words, this team is better than their 4-4 record would indicate.
They will give Weatherford a game, and they might need to have at least a good showing to
make sure they don’t slip out of the top four in district and have to go on the road next week.
This is going to be a fun one on the Oklahoma Sports Network.
TUTTLE at BLANCHARD
It’s the top two teams in District 2 likely battling for the number one ranking going into the
playoffs, do I need to say more?
The Tigers and Lions are clearly the class of their district, with neither dropping a district game
this year and Tuttle still being UNDEFEATED on the season at a perfect 9-0.
Blanchard has been absolutely rolling lately, having won five straight games including a very
solid win over a good Cushing team a couple of weeks ago.
Tuttle has been considered a state title favorite all season long, and outside of Newcastle giving
them a run for the money early in the year and John Marshall playing them tough last week –
they have largely cruised through the season.
It’s two of the best teams in 4A fighting for that all-important No. 1 spot in district heading into
the playoffs, this will be a fantastic game and arguably one of the best games of the entire regular
season – and you can see it right here on the Oklahoma Sports Network.
